1963 Austin Healey 3000 Mark II
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1963 Austin-Healey 3000 MkII BJ7. This big Healey was restored in 2007 to a nice driver standard by a well-known shop in California. It was sold at Barrett-Jackson's 2008 Scottsdale Auction for just over $70k and then changed hands once more five years ago; it has been enjoyed by its current owner on sunny days since.
The restoration was extensive and well documented, including a DVD photo catalogue of the work -- it included an engine rebuild, bare-metal repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires and suspension refresh. The ten-year-old restoration is holding up well -- paint, interior and body are very presentable. Good gaps, rubbers and glass. The bonnet does have two areas where the paint has lifted and cracked and there is a light patina to the brightwork and chrome. Engine compartment and underside are tidy.
This Healey runs and drives well -- it has been serviced regularly by a marque specialist and we believe everything to be in working order except the overdrive. It is accompanied by a Heritage Trust certificate (which confirms the numbers-matching engine), restoration documentation, Barrett-Jackson auction catalogue and sale information and owner's manual. A turn-key icon that is ready for weekend cruising or local shows.
