1967 Mercedes-Benz 250S
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1967 Mercedes-Benz W108 250S sedan. This 250S is finished in attractive black over light red MB-tex interior. It was delivered in Germany to a U.S. naval officer who was stationed there; he later brought it back to the states and kept it until his recent passing. A U.S. specification car, remarkably the original sales invoice has been preserved along with copies of original import documentation.
The 2.5 liter inline six is fed by twin carburetors and is mated to a floor-shift four-speed manual transmission. Mechanically excellent with newer exhaust, recently rebuilt rear end and brand new tires -- it runs like a Swiss watch and we have taken several 50+ mile highway trips in it.
The interior is well preserved with soft seating surfaces and good padding. The gauges, wood and ivory steering wheel are very nice and new coco mats have been installed. The A/C system is intact except for the compressor and bracket; a new-in-box compressor is included. Everything else works as it should -- lights, wipers, clock, Becker radio, blower motor, heat sliders, back lighting.
It had a repaint in 2016 and reportedly placed in a Mercedes club concours event thereafter -- however, we would characterize the paint as "driver quality" with some flaws, some minor rust in the rockers and some previous repairs in the spare tire well. It looks like a million bucks driving down the road and is remarkably sure-footed and tight in its driving characteristics. An attractive car and a lot of style at an approachable price point.
